Super Eagles Announce 54-Man Provisional Squad for AFCON 2025
The Nigeria Football Federation has released a massive 54-man provisional squad list for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to hold in Morocco. Head coach Eric Chelle submitted the extensive list to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the deadline, signalling the beginning of intense preparations for the continental showpiece. The squad is expected to be trimmed down to a final 28-man team before the tournament kicks off on December 21, 2025.

Preparation plans are already in high gear, with the team scheduled to open a training camp in Egypt starting December 10. This strategic location will allow the team to acclimatize and play crucial friendly matches before heading to Morocco. The technical crew is leaving no stone unturned as they aim to secure a fourth continental title for Nigeria, following their runner-up finish at the previous edition.
Group C Challenge
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C and will face stiff competition from Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda. Pundits have described the group as tricky, but the Super Eagles remain favorites to progress. With the blend of experienced veterans and exciting young talents included in the provisional list, expectations are high that the team will navigate the group stages successfully and make a deep run in the tournament.
